What’s better than a new episode of The Office? A new episode that highlights all of the stupid things that Michael does – and, of course, Dwight too. Any flashback to Michael hitting Meredith with his car or Dwight setting the fire to teach everyone a lesson in fire safety is going to be funny. All of the banker’s questions about sexual harassment brought up some interesting memories for Toby. One of the best moments was when Michael instituted “Casual Friday” and Meredith decided to show up to work in some very casual clothing and ended up flashing the whole office — multiple times. Naturally, inter-office relationships was a good subject to touch on — Michael’s and Toby’s reactions were priceless. There are no words to describe the turbulence of the many inter-office relationships.
What I found funnier than all of the flashbacks to all of the best episodes of The Office from over the years was that everyone was putting on an act that made Michael’s branch of Dunder Mifflin look so much better than it really is: Fake Stanley, Computron, and all of the technological gadgets that Michael brought in.
While I found the episode funny (who doesn’t love flashback episodes of any show?), it was lacking something new and humorous. The episode was a good recap of all of the best moments from The Office, but all of the devoted fans know what has happened. Jim and Pam’s baby episode is coming up pretty soon, so that should be eventful, but the writers need to bring the spark back to The Office. After a month-long plus hiatus, if this is the best they could come up with, it’s going to be a long few months until the season finale.
